2015 Jane English
Senator Jane English represents Senate District 34, which comprises part of Pulaski County. Senator English is serving her first term in the Arkansas Senate.
For the current 89th General Assembly, she is chairman of three important committees including Joint Performance Review, State Agencies & Government Affairs – Senate Constitutional Issues Subcommittee and the Veteran’s Home Task Force. She is vice chairman of Senate State Agencies & Governmental Affairs and Arkansas Legislative Council (ALC)-Peer Committee. Her other committee memberships include Senate Judiciary, Senate Children and Youth Committee, Arkansas Legislative Council (ALC), Legislative Joint Auditing-State Agencies, ALC-Personnel and Legislative Joint Auditing.
Nationally, Senator English works with legislators as a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). With NCSL, she sits on the Labor & Economic Development Standing Committee and the Task Force on Redistricting and Elections. English sits on the Tax & Fiscal Policy Task Force with ALEC.
Senator English was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2008 to serve House District 42. She served two consecutive terms.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Senator English is retired. She and husband Don have one son and one daughter.
